Some families may be entitled to claim 15 hours ‘Free for 2 Funding’ from the term following their child’s second birthday. 

Child born between	Will become eligible for free early education and childcare

1 April and 31 August	The start of term 1 following their second birthday (after summer holiday)
1 September and 31 December	The start of term 3 following their second birthday (after Christmas/New Year holiday)

 

A child is eligible if:

• They come within the criteria used to determine eligibility for Free School Meals

• Their families receive Working Tax Credits and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190 per year

• Their families receive Universal Credit and have an annual net income of no more than £15,400

• They have a current statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and care plan

• They are entitled to Disability Living Allowance

• They are looked after by a local authority

• They are no longer looked after by the local authority as a result of an adoption order, a special guardianship order or a child arrangements order which specifies with whom the child lives.

15 hours universal funding 

All children are entitled to claim 15 hours universal funding from the term following their third birthday.

A child born between:
1 April to 31 August (inclusive)	The start of term 1 following their third birthday (after summer holidays) until statutory school age.
1 September to 31 December (inclusive)	The start of term 3 following their third birthday (after Christmas and New Year holiday) until statutory school age.
1 January to 31 March (inclusive)	The start of term 5 following their third birthday (after April holiday) until statutory school age.

 

15 hours funding is offered across our morning and afternoon session – this does not include our Early Birds or Twilight sessions.
 

30 Hours funding

Some children are entitled to an extra 15 hours extended funding from the term after their third birthday making a total of 30 hours funding. 

A child qualifies for the extended entitlement if:

• Both parents are working and each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours (National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage) and less than £100k a year.

 

• The sole parent in a lone parent family is working and earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours (National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage) and less than £100k a year.

 

To get the additional hours you will need to sign up online to get an eligibility code. You'll also need to reconfirm your eligibility every 3 months.

You must apply for your 30 hours eligibility code in the term before your child becomes eligible by age. The government has recommended application periods. If you do not apply within these recommended periods you may not get your code in time. If you do not apply for and receive your code before the deadline date you will not be able to take up your place until the term after.
